The Army’s next generation Command and Control system - Situational Understanding

Commanders and warfighters depend on intelligence to guide decisions. The value of sophisticated intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination is undisputed among military and homeland security leaders as a critical need in the evolution of modern warfare.  This widespread recognition has necessitated more advanced multi-source intelligence analysis to deliver timely and accurate situational understanding to aid command and control mission support.

Overwatch delivers Situational Understanding as a software component of the Army’s Brigade Combat Team Modernization (BCTM) Battle Command supporting the Common Operating Picture (COP).  By delivering situational refinement, threat refinement and data distribution to aid in the COP, Overwatch provides vital knowledge, awareness and understanding as a force multiplier to the BCTM Battle Command.

Overwatch multi-source intelligence software solutions deliver understanding daily to identify and track threats, aggregate battlefield objects, suggest sensor planning improvements and monitor force readiness to react to and eradicate potential enemy threats.  The understanding that Overwatch solutions deliver is readily available through the COP. The COP leads to faster, more synchronized battle plans, execution and mission success.

Overwatch has designed an open solution architecture approach to meet our customers' demanding intelligence fusion requirements. We’ve developed flexible and effective tools for analysis of data to deliver understanding about conventional and asymmetric threats, and then provide Commanders and their staffs with the understanding they need to ensure mission success.  Our multi-source intelligence fusion capabilities even go beyond understanding of current threats, with predictive analytical tools to help detect patterns and predict future potential enemy actions, thereby enabling our warfighters to understand and act first to influence the battle outcome.

Under current contracts, Overwatch is responsible for work in various Battle Command areas, including:

  1. Situational Understanding

  2. Supporting Planning and Preparation

  3. Level 1 Fusion (fusion at the sensor level), and

  4. Battle Command Mission Execution.

The Army's trust in Overwatch solutions provides a beacon of confidence and reliance in Overwatch's multi-source intelligence fusion solutions to meet the conventional and asymmetrical warfare challenges of today's armed forces.
